Fire Hose Reel, Hydrant Hose, Extinguisher & Fireproof Cabinets
CAFS, Gaseous, Conveyor Belt System
A Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) is a system used in firefighting to deliver fire retardant foam for the purpose of extinguishing a fire or protecting unburned areas from becoming involved in flame.
It is proven that CAFS attacks all three sides of the fire triangle simultaneously. The foam blankets the fuel, thereby reducing the fuel’s capacity to seek out a source of oxygen. The CAFS solution adheres to ceilings and walls, more readily aiding in rapid reduction in heat. Also, the opaque surfaces of the foam, as it adheres to walls and ceilings, shield the fuel source from radiant energy.
CAFS may also refer to any pressurized water style extinguisher that is charged with foam and pressurized with compressed air.
Applications include:
- Backpacks
- Trolleys
- Modular Units
- Conveyor Belt System
Typical CAFS underground conveyor system
Fest Fire Security supplies and services conveyor belt fire suppression systems to protect assets and prevent the loss of time and money.
The main cause of a conveyor belt fire is friction due to slippage of its belts. Fire hazards can also occur due to overheated motors, burning material or even incendiarism. Valuable time can be lost if a conveyor is shut down and unnecessary costs of replacing equipment can be avoided altogether by having the right fire suppression systems.
Automatic fire detection and suppression systems installed on conveyor belts need to comply with various authorising bodies for example: NFPA, SANS, MHSA etc.
Gaseous Systems
Clean Agent Fire Protection
Clean Agent Protection for critical and invaluable assets. Clean Agent Fire Protection, also known as Clean Gas Fire Suppression or Nitrogen Fire Suppression provides high-fire extinguishment efficiency in areas where conventional agents cannot be tolerated. The compressed gas stops the spread of fire by chemically disrupting combustion. Inert gasses and chemical agents mix with the air to reduce fuel, reduce heat and suppress fire quickly.
Effective for use on fire and harmless to people and animals.
Carbon Dioxide Fire Protection
Carbon Dioxide (CO²) Fire Extinguishing Systems – colourless, odourless, highly effective, readily available and electrically non-conductive. It extinguishes fires by effortlessly lowering oxygen levels that support combustion in the protected area. This implementation of fire suppression make CO² suppression systems highly advantageous, requiring minimal clean-up, but should be used in generally vacant hazardous locations or otherwise avoided by personnel when discharged. The application of a CO² Suppression System works using a total flooding approach, but CO² is the only gaseous agent that can be utilized through local application.

Foam Systems
Foam Fire Suppression Systems
Bringing you foam agents of the highest quality for optimal protection.
Fest Fire Security’s foam systems can extinguish and control virtually any hazard where flammable liquid fires are present. Fire fighting foam is the only agent capable of suppressing vapors and providing visible proof of security.
Foam concentrates
The following foam concentrates are the most commonly used today to suppress and extinguish fires:
![](https://festfiresecurity.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ansul3.png)
![](https://festfiresecurity.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ansul3.png)
Protein Foam Concentrate
Prescribed for extinguishment of fires on hydrocarbon fuels, manufactured by hydrolysis of granulized keratin protein. They form a stable mechanical foam blanket that has unprecedented heat resistance, burnback and drainage properties. Foam stabilizers and inhibitors are incorporated to prevent corrosion, resist bacterial decomposition, control viscosity and may be used with fresh or sea water. Fest Fire Security offer protein foam as 3% and 6% concentrates.
Fluoroprotein Foam
Fluoroprotein foams have fluorochemical surfactants which provides greater control and extinguishment, fluidity, fast knockdown, exceptional resistance to fuel contamination, and dry chemical compatibility. Prescribed for use on Hydrocarbon fuels and select oxygenated fuel additives. Fest Fire Security offer fluoroprotein foam in 3% concentrate.

Aqueous Film Forming Foam
AFFF’s are a combination of fluorochemical surfactants and synthetic foaming agents. AFFF’s extinguish fires by forming a aqueous coat. This coat is a thin layer of foam solution that spreads rapidly across the surface to provide the fastest possible knockdown on hydrocarbon fuels. Their fluidity allows them to rush around obstacles, wreckage and debris. Fest Fire Security AFFF is available as 1%, 3%, and 6% concentrates or as 1% and 3 % freeze-protected concentrates.
Alcohol-Resistant Concentrates (AR-FFF)
Alcohol Resistant Film-Forming Fluoro is based on AFFF chemistry to which a polymer has been added. ARC’s have exceptional performance characteristics under a wide variety of conditions. The ARC concentrate forms a tough membrane which separates the foam from the fuel and prevents the destruction of the foam blanket. Alcohol-resistant concentrates provides good burnback resistance, knockdown and high fuel tolerance. Fest Fire Security offers various 3×3, 3% and 6% alcohol-resistant concentrates.
High Expansion Foam Concentrates
High expansion foams are based on combinations of hydrocarbon surfactants and solvents. The agent is used in fighting Class A, Class B, and LNG fires both indoors and outdoors. Foam generators can be used to apply in total flooding and three-dimensional applications. Fest Fire Security also offers various high-expansion foam concentrates.

When the flame or heat ruptures the pressurized tube the cylinder valve automatically activates to start the extinguishing process at the ruptured spot. The sensor tubing is completely flexible and can be run throughout the installation to follow the hazard risk areas.
Fest Fire's Direct Release System
The Direct release system utilizes the tubing as both fire detection and fire suppressant delivery system. The portion of the tube nearest to the hottest point of the fire ruptures, forming an effective discharge “nozzle”. The pressure drop in the releases the entire contest of the cylinder through this nozzle.
Typical Usage Environments for Fest Fire Protection
- Electrical Panels
- Server Cabinets
- Control Cabinets
- Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
- IT Rooms
- Transformers
Fest Fire's Indirect Release System
With the Indirect release system, the Tubing is used only as detection device.
The fire suppression agent is delivered via copper tubing, stainless steel tubing or braided hose.
Once the tube “burst”, the suppressant is discharge through strategically placed nozzles within the protected enclosure.
Causes of fire in these environments
- Equipment Failure
- Incorrect Installation
- Fatigued wires
- Overloaded circuits
Kitchen System
Restaurant Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems
Piranha Dual Agent Restaurant Fire Protection System
Fest Fire Security is pleased to announce the Piranha System – a new modern generation of restaurant kitchen fire suppression systems.
In the last 10 years major developments have changed the ways of commercial cooking. Cooking equipment currently manufactured uses more efficient burners, resulting in much higher heating rates. More cooking is done with vegetable oil instead of animal fats. Vegetable oils have a much higher auto ignition temperature. Fryers are now made with improved insulation that slows the cooling rate, but which also increases the risk of a re-flash in the event of fire. Restaurant and Hotel | | | Kitchen fires are much harder to extinguish than they were 15 or 20 years ago
The Piranha hood system features fast flame knockdown with the power of a wet chemical suppression agent, and the cooling capability of water. Tests using the Piranha double agent system have shown dramatically increased fire suppression system performance.
The Piranha hood system offers the following advantages:
- Revolutionary wet chemical and water kitchen fire suppression system
- Twice the coverage of conventional single-agent hood systems
- Cools cooking oils 15 times faster than simple wet chemical kitchen fire suppression systems
- Flexible nozzle coverage compared to the older hood systems
- Smaller and fewer agent storage tanks
R-102 Restaurant Fire Protection System
The R-102 Liquid Agent System continues to be the #1 kitchen fire protection system allowing you to choose from either of two design options namely Appliance-Specific Design or Overlapping Appliance Protection.
Appliance-Specific Design
Custom-aimed nozzles, More efficient, More economical
The most efficient fire protection is accomplished when nozzles are selected and aimed at specific hazard areas on each appliance. This method typically provides the most economical use of liquid agent reducing the size or quantity of storage tanks and associated hardware.
In this design nozzles are placed and aimed individually at specific appliances.
Residential Kitchen Automatic Fire Suppression
According to the National Fire Protection Association, cooking is the #1 cause of home structure fires and home fire injuries. Throwing water on burning cooking oil is not a good idea! The source of the flame needs to be killed first. Using water can cause a fireball explosion when chucked onto burning oily substances.
Choosing the right kitchen fire suppression equipment can help keep you and your home safe from accidental fires or injuries. That’s why we at Fest Fire Security supply our valued clients with our trusted stove top automatic kitchen fire suppression systems to prevent such fatal accidents. You can rest assure that your stove top can be guarded by our systems at all times while cooking even if the stove is accidentally unattended.
Common Causes of kitchen and home fires can include:

Water-Mist System
Water-Mist Suppression System
What is water-mist fire extinguishing?
Water-mist fire suppression is a method of firefighting that is dependent on three aspects namely: water, compressed air/gas, and special nozzles that work together to create a fine water mist that is used to put out fires.
Where is it applied?
Water-mist systems are mainly used in indoor environments or areas that are un-affected by air movement that require fire protection whilst limiting water damage and saving water usage. Many hospitals make use of water-mist for its harmless and non-contaminant effects. Trains are also a common application for water-mist systems.
More applications include:
- Back Packs
- Trolleys
- Modular Units
- Conveyor Belt Systems
Benefits of water-mist:
- Water-mist is sometimes preferred over gaseous systems due to the fact that it can be more effective
- Costs less
- Environmentally safe
- Does not create water damage
- Not only removes the heat element from the fire triangle but oxygen as well
- Systems can be applied using local application method or total flooding method
